ORGAN 1st Magazine PRESS RELEASE & Comment-

MSS Studios/ORGAN1st Press Release:

The ORGAN1st Magazine to End in 2007

We (Ian & Gerry King) are sorry to announce the closure of our quarterly 56 page ORGAN1st magazine/catalogue with issue 32 (November 2006 to January 2007). Issue 30 is being sent out to subscribers now, so the magazine will still run for another nine months.

We feel it's time we expanded ORGAN1st to cover more of our customers, which currently number around 7,000 in 50 countries, not just the 10%-15% or so who subscribe. Therefore the first of our 16 page A5 full-colour catalogues will be available around June, and these will be sent to our customers free of charge. Hopefully, the catalogues will be produced 2-3 times per year and will include around 80-90 CDs & DVDs including all the new releases.

Issue 32 will be a good issue to stop as it marks 8 years of the magazine, 10 years of MSS Studios selling organ recordings & books and 10 years of our website being online. We also feel it is right to announce the closure ahead of time, rather than just closing without warning. All subscribers who have paid past issue 32 will be credited or re-imbersed.

Our website at http://www.organ.co.uk will still continue to carry our full range of around 1,300 organ CDs, DVDs & Books and we intend to expand our e-mailing list so we can update customers with new releases on a monthly basis. You can join our free list at http://www.organ.co.uk/subscribe

If you do not currently subscribe to the magazine, you can obtain the final four issues for £7.50 (UK price). We will not be taking any more subscriptions after issue 29 has sold out. All subscribers will also receive a copy of the new colour catalogue when printed.

If you would like the final four issues, please send a cheque for £7.50 (made payable to MSS Studios) to: MSS Studios, Cae Deintur, DOLGELLAU. LL40 2YS (Issues 29 & 30 will be sent now, with 31 & 32 following in August & November respectively).

We thank everyone who has subscribed to the magazine in the past.

OUR COMMENT
We are sorry to hear that the publication of the ORGAN1st magazine will end in 2007. The magazine seemed to get better issue by issue, not only with its content, but in its artistic design and layout. However, there are several considerations in making the decision to end the publication, including the new postal rates.

The support of the British Organ-Keyboard Player Awards illustrated the enthusiasm that Gerry and Ian King had in running the family run publication.

The good news is that they are going to give more consideration to their 7,000 customers with their new colour CD catalogue which will be issued free of charge. Not only that, they will have more time to develop their web site, which is already widely used.

We feel sure that all their customers, and all our readers, will join us in wishing them the best of luck with their forthcoming developments.
