New Internet Radio Programme
From Organ1st
Since December 2005 Alan Ashton has produced and presented the monthly OrganTRAX Internet Radio programmes for www.organfax.com. These programmes will cease at the end of September. In a joint venture with Ian & Gerry King of MSS STUDIOS, a new monthly programme will be transmitted on Organ1st Radio. Alan began a freelance editorial association with Ian & Gerry back in 1999: writing Record, Video and DVD Reviews as well as supplying other organ world articles for their popular Organ1st magazine.
Alan, a former freelance broadcaster for BBC Radio Manchester during the 70’s & 80’s owns one of the largest collections of popular organ music recordings, and it is extracts from these, coupled with tracks from the latest releases, that have formed the popular OrganTRAX shows, which Alan inherited from former presenter Ian Wolstenholme. Alan explains: “The time has come to take Internet broadcasting a stage further, and so after an initial approach to Ian & Gerry, they came up with what I believe is a World first as far as organ music shows are concerned. From October, anyone logging on to www.organ.co.uk will find a link to Organ1st Radio, from where the new 60 minute show will be audio streamed in exactly the same way that it is right now. However, once connected to the programme there is a new and exciting twist to experience. It is different, revolutionary and exclusive, and I can’t wait to share it with you’
So what will be the new launch programme?
Alan’s wife Dorothy was the founder Secretary of the Klaus Wunderlich Appreciation Society, and over the years they have amassed what is believed to be the only complete collection of the recordings released by this famous artist. October is the 10th Anniversary of his passing and so the first Organ1st Radio programme will contain many rare tracks from the formative years right up to the very latest CD, which has never been released in the UK before.
And the final comments from Alan: ‘This is going to be an exciting and innovative development. MSS Studios are the largest independent distributors of organ music, as well as jazz, piano and Strict Dance tempo recordings, so the programme will, I hope, be a showcase for their catalogue, as well as offering me the opportunity to share include recordings from my collection of the past 60 years. The same high quality of audio streaming has been enhanced even further and the continued broadcast standard production values will make it the leader in the field…despite the spurious 33.000 hits each month touted by other programmes.
From September 1st log on to www.organ.co.uk and follow the link through to view a trailer.
